WelcomeWelcome to Winton Elementary, home of the Winton Wolves! We are excited to welcome new and returning families to our school and the 2011-2012 school year. At Winton, learning is our top priority and the entire staff is dedicated to ensuring that each child is safe and cared about so that important learning can take place every day. At Winton we strive to encourage our students to be responsible, respectful, safe and prepared. Our challenging curriculum focuses on increasing student achievement while providing a safe, student friendly atmosphere. Our students and dedicated teachers continue to work hard and the school community is committed to making a difference for every student at Winton. Winton Luau February 3, 2012 5:30 - 7:30 pm
Our Winter Luau is scheduled for Friday, February 3rd. We will have games, food, prizes and amazing gift baskets for auction. It will be a blast! We are looking for volunteers to help with set-up, running activities, and clean-up. If you are interested, please sign up in the office or through the PTA newsletter from Thursday folders. During the winter months, the district notifies local TV and radio stations regarding school closure or delay. KREM 2, KXLY 4, KHQ 6 and radio stations KVNI 1080 and K102 will broadcast/stream school closures. The district's hotline will provide regular updates on the status of school closures, and is a very efficient way, in partnership with the District's Web site, to check the status of closures. The Snow Hotline can be reached at 208.667.0784. The Transportation Director is out on the roads early in the morning to evaluate road conditions and also takes into account current and immediate weather forecasts. The Superintendent makes the final decision to close school - in most cases by 5:30 a.m. The district realizes not everyone will agree with all closures but our staff makes every effort to come to the best decision possible as student and staff safety is of paramount importance.
Asante Children's Choir Winton welcomed the Asante Children's Choir on Monday for a special assembly as they traveled through our area. They are perfoming at the Kroc Center on Tueday, January 10th at 7 pm. Please plan on attending their amazing program. santa and a book Thank you for coming!!

Erin Lenz, our amazing 1st grade teacher, was surprised by special assembly Thursday afternoon that she is Idaho’s 2012 Teacher of the Year. The Idaho Teacher of the Year is one of the most prestigious honors, recognizing one teacher who exemplifies excellence across the state’s 16,000 teachers. The Idaho Teacher of the Year is chosen from among the districts’ nominees by a selection committee representing the state's education leaders and legislators.
